Ah, once again thwarted by my mastery of procrastination, how damn predictable; I was quite happy with my design too. Three days to go and this years Winter Solstice card hasn't even made it the inking stage. When finished the moon and sun would have been behind the Awen, and the whole drawing rendered in either pen or pencil, or a combo of both. Still, on a positive note; I'm well ahead of schedule on my 2022 Winter Solstice card, so, huzzah!

Art
I've finally finished a piece of art (maybe). Oh huzzah! I have plenty of ideas, and do plenty of pencil layouts and provisional sketches for things, but then one thing or another sends me of course, and well, nothing ends up getting finished. I posted that I'd finished pencilling this Winter Solstice Card back in November 2019! In the case of this piece, my inability to finish it in time for
Solstice 2019 moth balled it until 2020, which of course never happened. I say maybe in brackets as I'm still not sure about the Sun, I feel I may have drawn it too large to be left blank. We'll see. In the meantime I'm happy to have completed something and am hoping to use it as springboard to moving straight on to the next piece.

Solstice card pencilled
A positive aspect of our current wet weather (and early sunsets) is that by cutting my opportunities for procrastination it has encouraged me to get on and do some drawing. As a consequence I've finished the initial pencilling for this years Winter Solstice card.

Art for arts sake; Winter Solstice Card pt 2
I know it doesn't look that different from the previous sketch, but I've inked the all the outlines for this years winter solstice card and I'm quite pleased. I've kept with a familiar theme that I've used in previous years, although obviously a new interpretation, that being the new Sun born from the horns of the Moon. Now to begin the shading and filling in.
