Once part of integrated public transport system that connected our land in a fashion unimaginable in today's piecemeal public transport mess, this section of former railway, its tracks removed under Dr Beeching's destruction of the railways in the 1960's, now forms a waterlogged wildlife haven, where grass snakes can regularly be seen swimming in the summer months.
